Description

At the start of the 1970s Shimano made decent workmanlike components, with the rise of road cycling for the masses spurned on by huge uptake in the USA they decided that they could produce a world class range of products that could be used by professional cyclists and budding amateurs alike. Dura Ace was introduced in 1973 and combined light weight with durability and typical Japanese craftsmanship, it immediately found fans in the peloton and on enthusiasts bike’s all over the world.

This is the first generation front mech, in the rare black finish, it predates braze on so is clamp on for narrow steel frames. The engineering looks pretty basic compared to more modern derailleurs, but it’s light, was built to last and the finish is superb.
