This original stock 5mm Shimano SIS SP gear outer cable is 5mm in diameter (as opposed to modern 4mm gear outer) and available in white or ‘hi-tech’ grey. The wider, stiffer gear outer still uses a standard inner gear cable (Shimano or Campagnolo) but is designed to give shifting a boost by compressing less under shifts. The Shimano SIS SP gear outer cable is sold by the metre and will come in continuous lengths if you buy more than one metre, it is also supplied with 6 steel cable ferrules.
