The Nitto B802 AA riser bar is a great way of updating a vintage mountain bike without changing too many parts or ruining the look. At a stonking 720 mm wide with plenty of sweep and rise this bar is similar in look and feel to some of the early 80s bars Nitto produced for the Specialized StumpJumper and other pioneer MTBs. Nicely made bars this long with a standard 25.4 mm clamp are becoming very hard to find. The 50 mm of rise and 15 degrees back sweep combine to make a very comfy shape. Standard 22.2 mm flat bar clamp diameter, compatible with MTB brake levers and thumbies.
I find these days my old ‘race geometry’ mountain bikes are very long and low, especially the rigid ones, so a bar like this really makes the difference to how much I enjoy riding it. The width also offers superior handling when combined with a shorter stem.
