The excellently finished Shimano 600EX 1″ threaded headset was produced in the late 70s and early 80s at a time when Shimano were on top of their game. The HP-6200 headset can be found in the 1982 catalogue taking up a position in the 600EX road/touring groupset and also as part of the ‘new’ Deore groupset which found it’s way onto some very early mountain bikes (we have a few more of these short-lived Deore parts in stock too). This 600EX series was also known as ‘Arabesque’ thanks to it’s graphic treatment.
The Shimano 600EX headset used a ‘starfish’ shaped spanner to adjust them along with the Dura Ace AX headset, as long as you are careful it is possible to use a standard headset spanner though. The headset is ISO with a 26.4 crown race and 30.2 mm cups and comes supplied with loose bearings.
