Superb and hard to find Shimano XT 1 1/4″ headset suitable for tandems and a number of aluminium bikes. From the late 1980s and early 1990s that were experimenting with bigger headset and stem sizes such as Cannondale and Gary Fisher. The black finish is more matt than the 1″ and 1 1/8″ versions of these headsets but the quality is the same and they will last many years. I recently picked up an early 90s tandem with a Shimano XT 1 1/4″ headset installed and despite the fact the bike had clearly been left outside the headset felt lovely and smooth still!
