Description
This beautiful Suntour Sprint mini drivetrain groupset comprises front and rear derailleurs and shifters, dating from 1987. The Sprint range was short-lived in this guise as it was soon replaced by Sprint 9000 which offered indexed Accushift gearing, the group sat below Superbe Pro and above Cyclone in the line-up. This drivetrain mini group includes a non-indexed rear derailleur, a clamp-on front mech and a pair of braze-on ‘Power’ friction downtube shifters.
The finish on Sprint is really good, equally as nice as Superbe in my opinion and this was the last hurrah for a high end friction only groupset, everything from here on went over to indexing. Because this group is not encumbered by Accushift it will work with 6, 7 or maybe even 8 gears at the back, the rear mech is short cage and the front is for a double so you can’t got too wide.
All of the components have their original boxes (although the rear mech box is in a terrible state) and it also includes a set of Suntour inner cables, frame braze-ons (just in case!) and a length of original Suntour stainless steel wound outer cable.
