These delightful late 1970s road hubs feature the new UniGlide freehub technology, grease ports in the centre of the hub shell and are supplied in the original box with instructions and a 6 speed cassette to fit. This pair are from early in the life of the 600 groups and are both date stamped for 1978 (thank you Shimano) putting them among the first of the UniGlide 6 speed rear hubs. The 600EX group later became just 600 and then what is now known as Ultegra, there were many iterations of the group and the hubs were available in freewheel, 5 speed UG and 6 speed UG versions.
Both hubs are 36 hole and come with their original nicely designed quick release levers, as well as a cassette to fit. The cassette is quite a narrow range (12:17) but due to the design it is possible to build your own ratios by replacing individual sprockets. The cassette is missing the connecting pins but once installed this will make no difference to the performance of the block.
