Back in 1990 Suntour released the XC Pro groupset to critical and commercial acclaim, it was lighter, better finished and more versatile than Shimano’s XT offering of the time. These Suntour XC Pro X-Press shifters were available alongside the more traditional thumbshifter, and were cutting edge for the time. Featuring Suntour’s Accushift indexing system and compatible with all Accushift rear mechs the X-Press shifters were a more ergonomic choice for MTB racers and fanatics alike.
This pair are for six speed rear, triple front and are in their original box, the right hand shifter feels a little stiff, I suspect this is hardened grease as they have sat unused for nearly 30 years. The under-bar shifter was just one of the many clever new technologies introduced with XC Pro, and it remains one of the greatest and most sought after groupsets from the glory days of MTB.
