Description
Suntour specific 8 speed Micro Drive CS-AP20-S8 (MD) cassette with two threaded sprockets for Suntour’s proprietary freehub design. 1993 was arguably the last great year for Suntour, it saw the introduction of 8 speed Micro Drive for the XC Pro and XC Comp groupsets utilising a double threaded sprocket to get the lower tooth count. Although this constant innovation was part of what made Suntour great it was key to it’s downfall with an over-complicated number of specific cassettes, chains, derailleurs and shifters across road and MTB groups that weren’t inter-compatible and were updated yearly!
If it isn’t immediately clear which cassette you need your best bet is to measure the length of the splines on the freehub body; 6 speed = 23.7 mm; 7 speed = 26.1 mm; 8 speed = 30.8 mm; 7 speed Micro Drive (MD) = 20.7 mm; 8 speed MD = 25.4 mm.
